The Licensed Practical Nurse assists clients in meeting their psychosocial, safety, and physical comfort needs by performing nursing procedures for which his or her training has provided the necessary skills and judgment. LPN will work under the direct supervision of the organization’s supervising RN. The LPN will assist with client rehabilitation according to the client care plan, observes and records pertinent information and reports to appropriate superiors. You may take doctor’s orders by phone when providing services for clients in the home.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides services in accordance with our organization’s policies.

  • Assists the physicians or Registered Nurse in performing specialized procedures.

  • Performs therapeutic venipunctures for blood draws for lab tests (PT, PTT, etc.) when competency has been verified.

  • Understands and uses aseptic techniques when appropriate.

  • Prepares equipment and materials for treatments, observing aseptic techniques.

  • Assists the client in learning appropriate self-care techniques.

  • Participates in client care planning and case conferences.

  • Notifies Clinical Director or supervisor of changes in client’s condition or of any unusual symptoms.

  • Ensures client’s property, equipment and supplies are safeguarded against abuse.

  • Records all pertinent information on the client’s clinical record and informs the Clinical Director of any changes in the client’s condition.

  • Updates knowledge and skills by attending in-service programs, continuing education programs, etc. and informs supervisor of newly acquired skills.

  • Ensures client rights and confidentiality.

  • The following tasks are also considered essential functions of the position:

  • Lifting unspecified weights, depending on assignment requirements.

  • Bending and stooping to prepare equipment, materials or objects for treating clients or managing client care or the client environment.

  • Transferring, turning, and positioning clients and assisting clients to walk and move from place to place.

  • Respect client’s rights and insures confidentiality.

Professional Credentials

  • Education and License: Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing. Currently licensed or eligible for licensure by state in which nurse practices.

  • Required Experience: At least one year’s supervised experience as an LPN within the last three years and home care experience preferred. Verification of experience and skills required to practice in specialty areas (i.e., pediatrics, oncology, rehabilitation, IV therapy, maternal/child, etc.).

Must be authorized to work within the United States.
