MOONLIGHTING ANNOUNCES RITESH JOHAR AS CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Leading Micro-Job Employment Marketplace Adds Former Capital One Talent to Lead Mobile Optimized On-Demand Network
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., June 24, 2015 – Moonlighting, the on-demand hiring exchange for local communities, today announced that Ritesh Johar is formally joining Moonlighting as Chief Technology Officer. Johar is a co-founder of Moonlighting and the architect of the proprietary mobile payments platform that powers Moonlighting. Since its inception, Moonlighting’s in-app payments for workers have generated month-over-month growth in markets all across the nation.
Before joining Moonlighting, Johar was the lead technical executive at Capital One, where he designed, built and managed a platform that generated $1B+ in mobile and online payments. With more than thirteen years of expertise in software architecture, design, development, process and methodology for the Federal Reserve and Thomson Reuters, Johar brings a wealth of digital payments experience to Moonlighting.
“Ritesh has done an amazing job of building our platform and preparing us to scale to millions of moonlighters worldwide,” said Jeff Tennery, CEO and founder of Moonlighting. “His efforts have been nothing short of extraordinary as he epitomizes the meaning of ‘Moonlighting,’ having worked tirelessly on nights and weekends to bring the platform to life.”
Recently highlighted as the best in the Business category in the iTunes Store, Moonlighting allows anyone at anytime to post a job or select an opportunity they may want to pursue. Moonlighting is the only hiring exchange in all 50 states that lets individuals make or receive payments for services on a proprietary platform via mobile device. Moonlighting empowers everyone to participate in the evolving sharing economy and collaborate to create and fill jobs in every state across the country.
“We’re very proud of what we have accomplished in this past year and I am excited to be joining Moonlighting full time,” said Johar. “We built a turnkey solution to allow everyone to participate in the on-demand economy and cannot wait to introduce more tools this summer.”
In addition to Johar’s arrival, Moonlighting has released its seventh installment of the M.O.O.N. Report, which gives an inside look into the sharing economy. In this June edition, Moonlighting spotlights the American dad as a fast growing segment on the platform. Many of these users are working as handymen or hiring them to help complete jobs. The report reveals that 30% of all jobs posted on the Moonlighting platform last month were for positions and services such as painters, carpenters, landscapers, electricians and plumbers. Business services, technology, web design and transportation continue to grow and meet the rising demand. The average payment for a job or service has risen to $320 as the scope of opportunities increases each month.
Moonlighting is the first mobile, on-demand application that empowers people to earn extra money and get tasks done instantly. Moonlighting creates a virtual marketplace for individuals and small businesses, enabling more effective and efficient communication between those needing a task done and those capable of fulfilling the need. Through the Moonlighting platform, users eliminate anonymity by posting jobs and sharing them within their trusted social networks (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) or with friends in their contact book. Moonlighting’s mobile technology allows users to also make more intelligent and better-informed hiring decisions in real time. Using Moonlighting’s proprietary mobile payment platform, users can complete hiring transactions in a secure and safe manner. Moonlighting was built from the ground up for the mobile economy. Moonlighting is a privately held company based in Charlottesville, VA. For more information about Moonlighting, please visit http://www.moonlightingapp.com.
